Disable Unwanted Startup Programs

The reason of your computer having a slow startup speed is most probably the number of applications unnecessarily starting up when you turn on your computer. Many applications needlessly add themselves to your startup process; consequently you experience startup speeds slower than you would prefer.

Lets start this trick…

Instructions:

Click Start
Click Run
Type msconfig
Click OK
A window is open. Now click Startup tab in its top.
Uncheck the programs that you dont want to run in startup.
Click OK Button.

Remove Annoying Delete Confirmation Messages

Although not strictly a performance tweak I love this fix as it makes my machine ‘feel’ faster.

I hate the annoying ‘are you sure?’ messages that Windows XP displays, especially if I have to use a laptop touch pad to close them.

To remove these messages:

Instructions:

Right-click on the ‘Recycle Bin’ on the desktop and then click ‘Properties’.
Clear the ‘Display Delete Confirmation Dialog’ check box and click ‘Ok’.

Note: If you deleted a file accidently then don’t worry as all is not lost. Just go to your Recycle Bin and ‘Restore’ the file.

Change Any Drive Background Without Software

We all might have set background images for the Local drives in Windows XP. But you might not have set background picture for your pendrive. Its a very simple hack so give it a try after reading this post, All you need to do is, just Copy & Paste the below code to notepad, then save it as desktop.ini

How To Hard Reset Security iPhone 2G 3G 4G And All Models

Press-hold the Home button (big circle below the screen) and the Sleep/Wake button (on top of the iPhone) simultaneously.

Missing Folder Options In Windows XP

Many of us sometimes find the folder options missing in windows explorer.
Here’s the solution...

Instructions:

Click Start
Click Run
Type gpedit.msc
Go to User Configuration
Go to Administrative Templates
Go to Windows Components
Select Windows Explorer
3rd option on the right side of screen “Removes the Folder Option menu item from the Tools menu”
Just check it, if it is not configured
Change it to ENABLE by double clicking on it
After applying again set it to not configured.

HTC One Android KitKat Update Currently in US Carrier Labs

Htc has revealed that its Model HTC one will be updated to android kitkat very soon. The the update has been sent to carriers for approval. We will update if any news comes about this update.

After the final testing is complete, the update will be certified and then pushed to users. No one knows how much time the certification period will take for AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon to finish.

The AT&T One mini, Sprint and Verizon One Max are currently in the integration stage of the update process. Its the second out of a total of 4 steps (plus evaluation), so be patient mini and Max users out there.

Vodafone GPRS Settings for China Mobiles
To enter settings in the Chinese mobiles used in India, here is how you need to do it -
Go to Menu > Services > WAP > Settings
In the settings, select a profile and select “Edit Profile”

Here you need to make the following changes -
Profile name rename: Vodafone_gprs
Homepage: http://live.vodafone.in/
Data Account: Vodafone_gprs
Connection type: In all the 3 options, the IP address should be 010.010.001.100
Usually the proxy port to be used is 9401, but you need to confirm the proxy port from your mobile network and this depends on your location.

Below WAP, there is a Data Account where you need to make a few changes:
GPRS Settings edit:
1. Account Name: Vodafone_gprs
2. APN: portalnmms
3. Username: (Leave it Blank)
4. Password: (Leave it Blank)
5. Auth. Type: Normal

As we have shared the info only about Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu you can enter the same details for any state, but the only problem would be the proxy port which is different for every state usually. You can confirm this and get the Proxy port information by calling the customer care (111 for Vodafone).
For any settings you change, you need to restart the phone and then try browsing the internet as the settings saved get activated after the phone is restarted once.
If the device is not recognized by your carrier and the settings don’t work, you should once remove the SIM card from the device, reinsert it and then call the customer care to confirm whether the device is recognized. If not, you need to ask them to manually save the mobile phone model and send the settings for that particular mobile phone.
The Vodafone GPRS and Internet plans with Blackberry mobiles are exclusively done with the mobile company, so they send the correct settings once you opt with any plan, which is not like the normal GPRS plans that you use with the Nokia, Sony ericsson and Samsung devices. Below are the different settings for Nokia, Samsung and Sony ericsson phones.

Vodafone Live! GPRS Settings – Samsung Phones
For Models – C130, X160, X200, X210, C210, C200, C230, X480
To setup the GPRS Settings in the above Samsung phones, go to -
Menu > Funbox > WAP Browser
Then go to settings > Choose the profile.
In the profile, you would get the different fields to be filled:
Profile name: Vodafone live!
Homepage URL:http://live.vodafone.in
Security: Non-secure
Bearer: GPRS
IP address: 10.10.1.100
Username: ______
Password:______
APN: portalnmms

For Models – X670, X700, D500, D600, D820
To setup GPRS Settings for the above Samsung phones:
Go to Menu > Browser > Proxy settings > Choose your profile

Here you get a list of fields:

Vodafone live! manual settings for Nokia phones
You need to activate Vodafone Live! first, which is free of cost and then enter the following settings in your Nokia phone -
Profile name: Vodafone live
Homepage URL: http://live.vodafone.in
Security: Non-secure
There is no charge for activating Vodafone live!
Bearer: GPRS
IP address: 10.10.1.100
Username: ______
Password:< blank> ______

Vodafone live! manual settings for Sony Ericsson
The setting up of Vodafone Live! GPRS in Sony ericsson mobiles is a little longer one, but it works -
Go to Menu > Connectivity > Data Communication > Data Accounts > Then select New Account and the account type as GPRS Data.
New account name: Vodafone Live
Then fill the following details -
APN: portalnmms
Login ID: (Leave it Blank)
Password: (Leave it Blank)
Save the above settings, and then go back to Connectivity > Internet Settings > Internet Profiles > New Profile and name it as Vodafone Live. Now under this account, select More and go to Settings. Here you get the following fields:
Connect using: Vodafone live
Internet Mode: http
Use proxy: Yes
IP address: 10.10.1.100
Port No.: 9401
Username: _____
Password :_____

Save the above settings, and go to Advance Settings from the More option. Select “Change Homepage”, and enter:
Name: Vodafone live
Address: http://live.vodafone.in
Now save the settings, and go back to Internet profiles and select Vodafone Live.

Activate Vodafone Live!
To activate Vodafone Live for your phone, you need to send the following SMS, depending on the type of account -
Postpaid customers: sms ACT VL to 111 (toll free).
Mumbai customers need to sms ACT VLZERO to 111 (toll free)
Prepaid customers: sms ACT VL to 144 (toll free).

Get GPRS Settings from Vodafone by SMS
Once you activate Vodafone Live! you get the settings automatically as you are a first time subscriber, but in case you don’t receive any settings, just send an SMS as VL to 52586, so that the settings are delivered to your mobile through SMS. This would happen only if your handset is already recognized in the Vodafone system. If it doesn’t then you need to call the customer care and confirm the device.
